Shutdown avoidance
RJS were called to a major cement works late on a Friday
afternoon as a loading shovel breakdown was about to cause a
shortage of gypsum at the point of delivery. The plant was
faced with a possible shut down of the mills over the
weekend, with huge cost implications.
It was quickly realised that the dead stock of gypsum,
built up in the silos could be utilised to feed the mills
and continue production whilst repairs to the loading shovel
were completed.
RJS quickly mobilised and were onsite by 6am Saturday
morning, We installed our Gyro Whip to the top of the silo
and began to work the gypsum build-up free. Our involvement
over the three days to took to repair the loading shovel was
significant as it provided enough free flowing gypsum to
feed the mills without any break in production.
The project showed that an interruption in raw material
supply need not mean that production has to stop. RJS Silo
Clean were able to keep the plant in operation while other
repairs were carried out, avoiding costly shut-down.
