RJS Silo Clean International - Specialist Equipment

Site Requirements

Air Supply

The RJS Giro Whip requires 100 cfm (2.83 m3/min) at 85 psi (6kp/cm2) min. pressure.

Lifting

With a total weight of 300kg, a crane, lift or hoist is required to lift the Giro Whip assembly on and off the top of the silo. If no facilities are available, and subject to suitable access, the equipment can be dismantled into smaller manageable pieces and lifted manually.

Electricity

A 110 volt supply is required for lighting.

Silo Access

A manhole or similar opening is required at the top of the silo (min. size 0.6m square or round). Larger, suitably placed openings (i.e. by removing dust plants, feed pipes, vents etc.) can also be used.

The Giro Whip rotates through 360 degrees with a boom length of 7.9m, cleaning a silo of 15.8m from a central position. Larger silos would require more than one manhole.

During the cleaning process, it is necessary to keep the discharge valves, air-slides, screws etc. open, to discharge the material in the normal manner.

With flat bottomed silos, the final clean out round air-slides, screws etc. and any stubborn lumps can be carried out manually, once all the dangerous overhanging material has been removed (down to 2m or below) and it is safe to enter the silo. With coned bottom silos, it is not necessary to enter the silo.
